A Lincoln Standard Since 1978
The corner of 13th & South Streets has a long history in Lincoln, NE. The business “genealogy” of this historic corner dates back to the Danek Bros. Grocery which operated in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1964, Mitch Tavlin purchased the old Danek Bros. building and had it razed and replaced by the current structure. The original block foundation was left intact, however, keeping part of the Danek Bros. story alive. In 1978, Meier’s Cork ‘n Bottle was born. Ken Meier’s vision for a wine-focused retail store proved to be well ahead of its time. Lincoln had never had a true wine shop. There were plenty of liquor stores that had small wine selections, but Ken realized a niche that wasn’t being met in Lincoln, and Meier’s Cork ’n Bottle quickly grew a reputation for having the best service, selection, and most knowledgeable staff in the area. In 2008, Ken’s son Kevin joined the business and took over as President in 2012. Kevin brings over 20 years of experience in the craft wine and beverage industry making it a second-generation family business.

Kevin is a life-long Lincoln native with 25 years experience in the craft beverage industry. Kevin is married with two children. Kevin’s hobbies include: travel, scuba diving, golf, fishing and working the grill.

Joseph Delp
General Manager
Joe has been part of the Meier’s team for a little over 10 years now. Starting part time during his time at UNL, and transitioning to a full time employee upon graduating. On his days off, you can usually find him spending time with his wife and son or on the golf course.
Favorite Glass of Wine: A nice Rhone Valley Red
Favorite Spirits: Brown Water from Kentucky or Scotland
Favorite Beers: Really love all of our local IPAs being brewed in our state.
Tucker Pell
Clerk
Tucker grew up in Lincoln and graduated from LSW High School. Tucker is currently enrolled at UNL and enjoys gaming with his twin brother.
Josh Lyman
Clerk
Josh grew up in Lincoln and graduated from LNE. Josh also served in the Army Reserves as an Military Police Officer and attended UNL as a Criminal Justice major. Josh has been in the craft beverage industry for over 10 years and enjoys family time, cooking, football and craft beer.
Trase Venard
Clerk
Trase is originally from Sioux Falls, SD. He has lived in Lincoln for 5 years and is a recent graduate from UNL with a degree in Nutrition and Health Sciences. In his free time, Trase likes soccer, basketball, biking and lake time.
